Samsung Introduces Galaxy SmartTag 2

Galaxy SmartTag2, the successor of Galaxy SmartTag and Galaxy SmartTag+, comes with performance upgrades, a design overhaul, longer battery life, and much more.

“We are constantly looking at ways to make people’s lives more convenient through Samsung Galaxy’s industry-leading innovations,” Jaeyeon Jung, Executive Vice President and Head of SmartThings, Device Platform Center at Samsung Electronics, said during the launch earlier this month.

“With the Galaxy SmartTag2, we set out to make sure Samsung Galaxy users can find their belongings in an easy and intuitive way. With an enhanced finding experience and a longer battery life, Galaxy SmartTag2 will provide users with greater peace of mind for longer and in more situations.”

Let’s have a look at the key features of Galaxy SmartTag 2:

Galaxy SmartTag2, like Apple’s AirTag, is a tracking device that can be used to keep track of your valuable belongings or even your pets. To use any new Galaxy SmartTag2, users must register their device through the SmartThings Find app.

Sleek Design: Galaxy SmartTag2 has a new ring-shaped and compact design, which features a durable and large metal ring inside for greater resilience to support accessories such as clips and keyrings. These accessories can also be attached to bags and luggage. It measures 28.8 x 52.44 x 8.0 mm and weighs just 13.75 grams.

Compass View: Galaxy SmartTag2 now offers an improved Compass View feature, giving an easier visual tracker for directions by providing arrows to show the direction and distance of the Galaxy SmartTag2 concerning the user. This mode is available on any Ultra Wide Band (UWB) compatible Galaxy smartphone, such as the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Lost Mode: Galaxy SmartTag2’s brand-new ‘Lost Mode’ feature uses the device’s NFC display to register consumer’s contact information via a message. With this feature, anyone who finds a Samsung “SmartTag2″ device attached to a lost tag, item, or pet can use their smartphone to scan the tag and access the owner’s message and contact information. Lost Mode works with any mobile device with a web browser and NFC reader.

Power Saving Mode: With the brand-new Power Saving Mode on Galaxy SmartTag 2, the smart device’s battery can now last up to 700 days, more than twice the duration of previous Galaxy SmartTag models. Even in Normal Mode, battery life now extends to 500 days, which is a 50% increase on previous models.

Other Features: The SmartThings Find app from Samsung has also been enhanced to include an improved user interface (UI) and a full-screen map view. Users can now add a shortcut to the app on their smartphones.

Further, Galaxy SmartTag2 works within a maximum Bluetooth range of 120 meters and can control smart home appliances through the SmartThings app. It includes Bluetooth 5.3 and UWB support for a more extended range and accurate location tracking. It also comes with an IP67 rating for dust and splash resistance.

Besides this, users can now track SmartTags using Augmented Reality (AR) Find technology on their Samsung Galaxy smartphones and re-sync their Tags with new Galaxy phones. They can also check if unauthorized SmartTags are tracking them.

Price and Availability:

The Galaxy SmartTag 2 is available in two color variants: black and white. You can now purchase the smart device in India at Rs. 2,799 ($29.99) from Amazon, Samsung’s Online Store, and Samsung’s Exclusive Stores.
